Above: Our team had a wonderful experience during the WV Association of Addiction and Prevention Professionals Professional Summit in July. They had the opportunity to connect with other addiction, prevention and recovery professionals from across the state all while learning and honing new skills.
On September 11th, 2025 WVSL Solutions celebrated our 12th anniversary! This year has been filled with so many moments of friendship, joy, generosity, hope, and laughter. Every year brings us so much more to strive for as an organization. Thank you to everyone who has been with us on the journey so far.

Kickoff to Recovery
This year’s Kickoff to Recovery was a huge success! Our annual celebration and fundraiser took place on August 31st, 2025 in Charleston and was marked by multiple inspiring speakers as well as tons of family friendly activities, community resources and local vendors. Each year we are so thankful for this opportunity to bring together the recovery community in a day of hope and joyful celebration.

Thank you again to all of the event’s sponsors, community partners, vendors, and attendees for making the day so special.

Peers
Police and Peers

We are so proud of the hard work from our Police and Peers team, and recently received some wonderful words from Beckley Chief of Police Dean R. Bailey:
“I wanted to take a moment to recognize and commend the exceptional work being done by our Police and Peers Recovery Specialist Heather Williams. Heather has had a profound and positive impact—not just within the department, but throughout the broader community. When I speak with individuals in order to get them some help they already know Heather. That is impressive.
Her ability to connect with individuals struggling with substance use and mental health challenges, while also working with our officers, has proven to be an invaluable asset. The compassionate, peer-driven approach she brings has helped bridge the gap between public safety and recovery support, leading to improved outcomes for individuals in crisis and reducing repeat encounters with law enforcement.
It’s clear that Heather is not only innovative but essential in meeting the complex needs of those suffering from addiction. The dedication, empathy, and professionalism shown in her role deserves to be recognized and appreciated at every level.
Thank you for supporting such a meaningful and effective initiative. It’s making a real difference.”
PAARI Partner Spotlight

In August, the Police Assisted Addiction & Recovery Initiative (PAARI) highlighted our Police and Peers program in their monthly webinar series! Each month, PAARI features a partner running an outstanding PAARI model program —we’re proud of being a part of this collaboration and of all the hard work on the part of our peers and community partners.
OneBox Distribution

August 31st marked International Overdose Awareness Day. Founded in 2001, this day brings a global community together to take action on overdose. We are taking active steps to prevent overdose in the state with distribution of ONEbox kits throughout the greater Charleston area. We distributed the kits to over 30 community partners including those at Legal Aid WV, American Job Center, WestSide Together, and at the State Capitol.
Save A Life Day

Our team was out all day on September 25th teaming up with community partners across the state giving out free naloxone for the nationwide Save A Life Day. In Monongalia County alone, 1,965 two-dose kits of naloxone were distributed.
Thank you to everyone who was involved!
Housing

We wanted to say thank you to everyone who has donated items to our housing program. From bath towels to coffee cups, these items are what it takes to make a house a home. Want to help our housing program participants with everyday items? Here’s more information about our housing donations.
Volunteer Cleanup in Morgantown

Our Morgantown housing participants participated in a community cleanup event “The Mountaineer Mission: Clean & Gold”, helping to clear litter from the downtown area the day after the WVU vs. Pitt football game.
Behavioral Health

FAQ
When you enter the WVSL Behavioral Health office, you’re first greeted by our Administrative Specialist Kayla. We sat down with Kayla to talk about some of the most frequently asked questions that she answers.
Q: How long is the waitlist?
A: We do not currently have a wait list. Calling us directly and having your insurance information available is the fastest way to be seen by our providers. Once benefits are verified and intake paperwork is complete, scheduling will be a breeze. We know mental health concerns cannot wait, and neither should our clients.
Q: What kinds of insurance do you accept?
A: We primarily accept Medicaid, but we also take some commercial insurances such as BCBS, CareSource, Peak, and more coming soon.
Q: Do I need to know my Medicaid ID number?
A: It’s helpful but not required. If you don’t know it, we can assist you in looking it up.
Q: Do you offer telehealth services?
A: Yes, we offer both telehealth and in-person sessions for your convenience.
Q: Do I need to have a substance use disorder (SUD) to receive services?
A: Not at all. While we do support individuals with SUD, our therapists are trained in a wide range of mental health and mood disorders.
Q: Do you only work with adults?
A: Yes, at this time we are only accepting adult clients.
Q: Can I get prescriptions through your office?
A: Not at the moment—but we’re working on being able to offer that service in the near future.
Thank you so much for your continued support,
WVSL Solutions
